Medical Laboratory Scientist/Technologist (26000531) Benefits Competitive hourly rate Sign on bonus A Brief Overview Follows laboratory policies and procedures to perform high and moderate complexity testing. Performs pre-analytical and post-analytical laboratory support functions. Demonstrates clear communication with team members to optimize laboratory operations. What You Will Do Accurately and efficiently performs pre-analytical, analytical and post analytical processes for laboratory testing Maintains and troubleshoots laboratory equipment according to manufacturer’s instructions Performs and evaluates all required quality control assessments as described in departmental policies and procedures prior to reporting patient results. Evaluates results of laboratory tests according to laboratory protocols to ensure quality patient care. Documents all laboratory activities according to policies and procedures Maintains and demonstrates competency assessment in assigned area Takes responsibility for self-development Completes all assigned mandatory assignments within allowed timelines Additional Responsibilities Performs other duties as assigned. Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace. Education Bachelor's Degree in a chemical, biological or clinical laboratory science or medical technology from an accredited institution; Requirement specific in CLIA '88 to perform high complexity testing. (Required) or Bachelor's Degree in other field (Required) and Associate's Degree in clinical laboratory science and certification by ASCP or equivalent are also acceptable (Required) Work Experience Less than 1 year Entry level (Required) Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Ability to keep organized Displays initiative to perform job duties Ability to work in a fast-paced environment Ability to multi-task Initiates and maintains positive relationships with patients, customers, co-workers.
